The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Riviera Postcard arrived in 2020 from And Other Stories, the fashion label whose footprint spans clothing, accessories, footwear, bags, and a growing presence in fragrance. The brand tapped Jérôme Epinette at Robertet to compose the scent. The result is an exercise in restraint that reads like a lazy, late-afternoon terrace somewhere warm. The cocktail is sweet, the breeze is warm, and nobody's checking the time. It's the kind of sun-soaked glamour that doesn't announce itself. It just sits there, sparkling and easy, the way good things do when they're not trying too hard. The composition leans into fruit and gourmand territory without tipping into cocktail costume, and that's where its charm lives.
What makes this composition land is its restraint. The Bellini note sets a social, sparkling tone without tipping into champagne-and-jasmine territory. Pairing it with pineapple and coconut leans tropical without veering into sunscreen-and-piña-colada cliché, because the base pulls it firmly into dessert territory with vanilla, caramel, and sugar. The gourmand foundation does the heavy lifting while the top keeps things bright, and the whole thing reads gourmand on paper but wears like a fruit-forward daytime scent in practice.
The evolution
The first fifteen minutes are a Bellini poured in slow motion: sparkling, bright, the lemon zest cutting through like citrus peel twisted over the glass. Nothing heavy yet, just that happy, tipsy afternoon energy. Soon after, the pineapple wakes up and the coconut starts threading through, softening the edges into something rounder and more indulgent. The sparkling quality fades and the fruit deepens, settling into warmer territory as the composition crosses fully into dessert. Vanilla and caramel take over, the sugar note amplifying both, and what started as a poolside cocktail settles into a warm, almost edible warmth. The coconut is still there in the background, lending the drydown a faint tropical suntan-oil quality that keeps it from getting too bakery-sweet. It wears close to the skin from start to finish, creating a bubble of sweetness rather than a trail.
Cultural impact
Riviera Postcard sits as a distinct entry within the And Other Stories lineup, a tropical-gourmand composition that maps closer to sun-drenched mainstream taste than to the more austere European perfumery traditions. It appeals to wearers who want their fragrance to do what a good vacation does: reset the mood, soften the week, make everything feel a little less urgent. In that sense it functions less as a statement scent and more as a wearable exhale, an everyday reach-for that asks nothing of the wearer except that they wanted something sweet today.
