The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Naked Woods arrived in 2026 as AllSaints' latest move into unisex fragrance, the British label extending its reach into scent with a composition that refuses to ask whether the wearer is male or female. Perfumer Gabriela Chelariu built Naked Woods around a contrast the brand knows well: something green and tart up front, something warm and woody underneath. The opening throws rhubarb, bergamot and apple leaf at you, a fresh, slightly bitter edge that reads almost like a crisp autumn morning compressed into juice and leaf. The rhubarb brings that tart, almost vegetable sweetness, while the bergamot cuts through with its familiar citrus snap and the apple leaf adds a green, herbal coolness that keeps the whole top from going simple or sweet.
The composition uses Clearwood, a sustainable alternative to patchouli that gives that same earthy, slightly sweet woodiness without the heavier, agricultural undertones traditional patchouli can carry. Clearwood reads cleaner and more transparent, more about a soft, creamy woodiness than about the dense, almost damp earthiness of classic patchouli. Paired with amberwood, the base feels modern rather than resinous, more skin-like than incense-heavy.
The evolution
The first ten minutes are sharp. Bergamot, rhubarb and apple leaf read almost like a cocktail you didn't order, green and tart with a bitter citrus edge. There's no slow build here, it announces itself with that fresh, slightly sour snap, the rhubarb giving the top a vegetable sweetness while the apple leaf cools everything down with its green, herbal bite. By the twenty-minute mark the fruit has softened. Geranium and orris step forward with a powdery, slightly violet quality, and pink pepper adds a clean heat underneath, like the moment a room warms up after someone opens a window. The woods start arriving around the one-hour mark. Amberwood and Clearwood settle in, and the musk begins to warm the whole composition, pulling the scent closer to skin and away from the bright fruit of the opening.
Cultural impact
Naked Woods fits AllSaints' lane precisely: a unisex composition for someone who treats scent the way they treat a leather jacket, an accessory with personality, not a finishing touch. The fragrance works as an everyday woody-amber, the kind of composition that transitions easily between seasons and doesn't demand a specific occasion. You can wear it to the office, to dinner, on a weekend walk, and it reads appropriately without ever feeling overdressed or underdressed. The unisex positioning is central to how the scent behaves on skin.
