The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Ajmal launched Relentless in 2007, a concentrated perfume oil that put the house's philosophy on display. The name says everything. This wasn't meant to whisper. From the UAE, where the house had built its reputation on rare ouds and confident compositions, Relentless arrived as a statement: we're not here to be polite about what we do. The formula paired bright citrus with Agarwood at the top, a bold structural choice, putting the heaviest material up front instead of letting it develop. It was designed for people who knew what they wanted.
The note structure is what makes Relentless interesting. Most oud fragrances save the wood for the drydown, letting it emerge slowly. Here, oud arrives in the opening alongside fruit and citrus, a deliberate collision. The heart builds floral warmth (rose, jasmine) into the woody foundation, while amber and musk extend the presence. The result is a fragrance that announces itself early and sustains that energy throughout the day, with a loyal following among enthusiasts who appreciate its confident trajectory.
The evolution
Relentless opens bright and immediate, citrus, fruits, a hint of spice from black pepper and clove. The lemon doesn't linger. Within the first twenty minutes, oud arrives and takes over. Not the floating, resinous oud of niche releases, something more grounded, more present. The heart settles into rose and jasmine, but the floral notes are woven into wood rather than floating above it. By the third hour, the composition has compressed into warm amber and musk. This is where Relentless earns its name. The drydown isn't quiet, it's insistent. Six to eight hours in, the skin holds a soft, powdery warmth that doesn't disappear so much as it simply refuses to leave.
Cultural impact
Ajmal occupies a particular space in fragrance culture, respected for authenticity, known for value, trusted by those who understand oud. Relentless fits that profile. It's not trying to compete with European luxury houses. It's doing its own thing: confident, warm, and present without being loud.
