The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Summer Musk arrived in 2025 from Vivace Perfumes, composed by Muhammad Islamov as part of the brand's Breeze Artistry collection. Islamov's work with the citrus and musk elements in this composition gives the fragrance a distinctly buoyant character, the kind of brightness that reads instantly on a warm afternoon. The opening moves through sharp, juicy citrus that almost crackles against the skin before settling into the softer textures below. Musk runs through the heart and base like a current, providing a clean, close warmth rather than anything heavy or opaque. As the hours pass, the citrus recedes and the musk takes fuller command, dusted with a faint woody softness from the sandalwood.
What makes this composition interesting is the tension between the top notes and the base. Bergamot, lemon verbena, orange, and lemon push toward classic eau de cologne territory, clean and sparkling. But the drydown anchors in musk, sandalwood, and leather, materials that pull the scent back toward Vivace's oud-and-musk heritage. The neroli and lavender in the heart act as a bridge: neroli carries that orange blossom warmth that softens the citrus without sweetening it, and lavender adds a herbal coolness. Artemisia, the quieter middle note, brings a green, slightly bitter quality that keeps the composition from tipping into simple freshness.
The evolution
The first ten minutes are all brightness: bergamot and lemon hit fast, with orange adding a soft sweetness behind them and verbena giving the opening its green, slightly grassy edge. There's an almost gin-and-tonic quality to it, crisp and aqueous. Within twenty minutes, the neroli takes over, rounding the sharp citrus into something warmer and more floral, while lavender cools the edges from the sides. Artemisia adds a dry, herbal thread that keeps the heart from feeling too pretty. By the two-hour mark, the citrus has mostly faded, and the base starts to assert itself. Musk arrives soft and clean, not animalic. Sandalwood gives it creaminess without weight. Then the leather shows up, quiet but present, adding a dry, slightly suede-like quality that lingers well into the drydown. What's surprising is how long the leather persists. Six hours in, the bright top is long gone, but that soft musk-and-leather combination is still detectable, close to the skin, with the sandalwood holding everything together like a quiet bassline.
Cultural impact
Summer Musk by Vivace carries a particular kind of nostalgia, the scent equivalent of sun-warmed skin, bare feet on wooden decks, and lemonade shared on a porch. Bergamot and orange open with a bright, zesty clarity, then settle into the softer presence of white musk that gives the whole composition its easy, unfussy character. It reads as a fragrance built for ease rather than spectacle, the kind of scent that becomes part of the rhythm of a warm day without demanding attention.
