The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Brilliante arrived in 2020 as a limited edition. Perfumer Gabriela Chelariu built this fragrance around a clear intention: optimism without hesitation. The name itself says it all. It opens on pear and blackcurrant, fruits that bring brightness without sugar overload, then surrenders to white florals that feel luxurious without apology. The pear note delivers a crisp, clean quality that feels almost translucent, while the blackcurrant adds a tart berry lift that keeps things lively and animated. As the opening settles, the white florals emerge with a generous, velvety presence that feels anything but tentative. The fragrance translated into scent form.
The pyramid structure is worth noting. Cashmere wood delivers a soft, almost textile warmth that wraps the florals rather than competing with them. Tonka bean adds a gentle creaminess that rounds the edges. White cedar provides just enough structure to keep the composition from floating away entirely. The result is a fragrance that feels complete at every stage, not one that loses its identity after the opening. Each layer builds purposefully on the one before, creating a cohesive experience that holds together from first spray to final fade.
The evolution
The first minutes belong to blackcurrant, tart, assertive, impossible to ignore. Pear arrives within seconds, softening the tartness and introducing a clean brightness. Jasmine sambac and orange blossom take over, lush and warm, carrying the heart for hours. The vanilla orchid underneath adds a tropical sweetness that keeps the florals from reading as sharp. By the drydown, the composition settles into powdery warmth, cashmere wood, tonka bean, and white cedar that stay intimate and close. The florals never fully disappear. They become quieter, more personal, the kind of presence that someone standing beside you will notice before you do. The transition feels natural, almost inevitable, as the brighter top notes give way to something deeper and more contemplative.
Cultural impact
The brand launched its fragrance line in 2011 through a partnership with Parlux. Brilliante presented a different take on femininity through scent. The blackcurrant and pear opening diverged from the sweet, edible interpretations that dominated the market at the time. Instead, this scent offered something cleaner and more optimistic. The gardenia and freesia heart gives it a classic white floral dimension that reads timeless rather than retro. The overall effect is a fragrance that feels both contemporary and enduring, a scent that could belong to this moment or any other.
