The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Corey Veigel founded Veigel Perfumes in Australia with a collector's sensibility and a perfumer's discipline. For Amore Del Fico, his attention turned to the Mediterranean fig tree, a symbol of simple abundance found across Southern Europe. Rather than reaching for abstract interpretations of abundance, Veigel chose to work directly with the fruit itself, setting out in 2024 to capture the green, sun-ripe quality that makes the fig tree such a familiar comfort in warmer climates. Bergamot from Italy was selected to brighten that natural sweetness, lending a citrus clarity that keeps the opening feeling fresh and grounded rather than indulgent. The result is a fragrance that honors the fig's uncomplicated richness without tipping into novelty.
The note selection reflects a specific philosophy: fig deserves warmth, not sweetness for its own sake. Bergamot was chosen to open the composition because its citrus character contrasts with the fruit's natural richness without overwhelming it. Cardamom in the heart adds a spice that bridges the freshness of the top notes and the depth of the base, while labdanum provides the resinous backbone that prevents the fragrance from feeling purely linear. Sandalwood and cedarwood in the drydown complete the picture, offering a woody comfort that rounds out the fig's green sweetness and keeps the fragrance wearing close to the skin throughout its life.
The evolution
The fragrance begins with fig and bergamot, creating a green, fruity brightness that feels immediate and natural. As the top notes recede, the heart introduces cardamom, a spice that adds warmth and a slight aromatic bite. Labdanum contributes a resinous amber quality while galbanum keeps the composition anchored to green, almost herbaceous territory. By the time the drydown arrives, sandalwood and cedarwood take over, their woody creaminess softened by musk. The progression moves from fruit to spice to wood, each transition deliberate, never jarring. What emerges is a fragrance that feels whole, each stage building naturally on what came before.
Cultural impact
Amore Del Fico taps into the growing cultural fascination with Mediterranean simplicity and sustainable sourcing, echoing a broader movement toward natural, garden‑inspired scents that celebrate everyday moments. Its launch in 2024 coincided with a surge in consumer interest for unisex fragrances that blend bright citrus with green fruit, reflecting a shift away from gendered marketing. By pairing Italian bergamot with Australian sandalwood, the perfume bridges regional identities, inviting wearers to experience a cross‑continental dialogue. This approach resonates with social media trends that value authenticity and transparency, as enthusiasts share personal stories of how the scent evokes memories of summer gardens, family gatherings, and quiet afternoons.
