The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Nectar Of The Forbidden is The Dua Brand's interpretation of the Les Sœurs de Noé composition Forbidden Nectar, part of the house's Inspired Expression collection. Perfumer Mahsam Raza built it for the wearer who treats refinement like a private language, something that hints at more underneath. It's a fruity-floral composition that opens with cherry and tangerine brightness, then leans into gardenia, jasmine, and orchid for a white floral heart sweetened with peach. The base is warm and grounded, musk and cedarwood doing the quiet structural work that keeps everything feeling composed rather than candy-sweet. Raza designed it as a fruit-forward floral with a sultry undertone, the kind of scent that reads polished in the first hour and intimate in the hours that follow.
What makes this composition interesting is the balance between the citrus-fruit top and the white floral heart. Cherry and tangerine give the opening a syrupy brightness, while pineapple adds a sharper green-fruit edge that keeps things from collapsing into pure sweetness. The gardenia-jasmine-orchid trio is a classic white floral stack, but peach threading through it softens the lactonic edge gardenia can have and pulls the whole heart toward something more edible. Musk and cedar in the base are the grounding mechanism, keeping the fruit and florals from floating away.
The evolution
The first fifteen minutes are all fruit. Cherry hits first, candied and immediate, then tangerine brightens the edges and pineapple cuts through with a tart green note that keeps the sweetness in check. Bergamot does its usual job, lifting everything so the opening reads sparkling rather than syrupy. By the thirty-minute mark the fruit starts pulling back and the white florals move forward. Gardenia is the loudest, creamy and almost lactonic, with jasmine adding its indolic warmth right behind. Orchid does what orchid usually does in compositions like this, smoothing the transitions and softening the edges between gardenia and the peach that surfaces around this time. The peach doesn't read as a separate note, more like the florals decided to become fruit again. Around the two-hour mark the whole thing shifts into drydown mode.
Cultural impact
Nectar Of The Forbidden sits within The Dua Brand's Inspired Expression collection. It's the kind of fruity-floral that reads polished and intentional, the sort of scent that wears well in social settings where you want to smell put-together without smelling like you're trying too hard. The cherry-floral combination gives this release familiar energy while the specific balance, fruit forward but grounded by musk and cedar, keeps it from feeling generic.
