The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Dragon Strength came together in 2025, built by Mahsam Raza as part of The Dua Brand's Inspired Expression collection. The brief was clear: take the commanding profile of Parfums de Marly's Eragon and make it accessible without sanding off the edges. Bergamot, pink pepper, and mandarin set a bright entry, cardamom snapping right behind them. It's the kind of composition that wants you to notice it from across a room, then rewards closer attention once you're there.
What makes this pyramid interesting isn't any single note but the pivot point. Davana sits in the heart, a material most people don't know by name but recognize when it lands, because it reads both floral and boozy depending on what's around it. Here, it's flanked by cinnamon, turning the middle phase into something almost liquid. Then the base pulls hard toward earth: cypriol for smoke, leather for structure, patchouli for depth, with tonka and vanilla softening the landing. That combination of smoky leather and creamy sweetness is the fingerprint.
The evolution
The first ten minutes are almost disarmingly bright. Bergamot and mandarin, pink pepper sparking off both, cardamom threading heat through everything. Clean, sharp, almost cheerful. Then cinnamon starts to gather weight and davana brings its strange, almost-fruity warmth, and the whole thing tilts. By the two-hour mark, the citrus is gone and what remains is leather, cypriol smoke, and patchouli pressed close to skin. Tonka and vanilla don't sweeten so much as round the edges, turning rough material into something wearable. It holds at a moderate radius through hour four, then pulls inward for the rest of a 4-6 hour stretch. On fabric the next morning: faint leather, soft vanilla, a ghost of smoke.
Cultural impact
Dragon Strength sits in a specific lane: spicy-oriental compositions that prioritize projection and presence over subtlety. The Eragon reference gives it a clear lineage, and its place in the Inspired Expression collection signals a deliberate creative direction. This is a fragrance for someone who wants their scent to register, not whisper. The opening carries a warm spiced character, and as the top notes settle, the resinous and sweet-woody base takes hold and stays close to the skin with intention.
