The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Sister's Aroma released Tulip Me in 2024, a year when the brand had already established itself through fragrances that wear their names like provocations. Sugar Porn. Like Cannabis but Not. Don't Explain. The house was built on the idea that a fragrance should announce itself, should have something to say beyond its notes. Tulip Me arrived quietly in that context, named after a flower, not a feeling. Which is almost the provocation.
The choice of tulip as a focal note is unusual. In perfumery, flowers tend to play supporting roles, the heart, the drydown, the softness that emerges. Here the tulip doesn't hide behind metaphor. It's the reason the fragrance exists. Combined with anise in the opening and white amber holding the base, the structure moves from cool spice to floral clarity to warm persistence. Three acts. The middle one belongs to spring.
The evolution
Bergamot arrives first, bright, citrus-clean, the kind of opening that announces morning without urgency. Anise follows, softer than it sounds. There's a slight coolness to it, like the air before it warms. Not everyone is accustomed to this phase. It passes. Within minutes, tulip takes the stage. It's joined by aquatic notes, not oceanic, not salty, but that sense of freshness that arrives with flowers near water. The transition is the thing. Jasmine and tuberose deepen the heart into something richer, almost sweet, but the tulip doesn't disappear. Cedar and musk anchor the composition as it settles. The drydown is warm without heaviness. White amber lingers closest to skin, cedar fades last. This is a fragrance that knows when to stop talking.
Cultural impact
Tulips have long been symbols of spring and renewal in many cultures, particularly in the Netherlands where they sparked an entire economic phenomenon. Sister's Aroma captures this essence in Tulip Me, blending the crisp brightness of bergamot with the warm, slightly spicy depth of aniseed. This combination reflects a modern take on floral-perfume traditions, appealing to those who appreciate both classic and contemporary scent profiles. The fragrance joins a lineage of tulip-inspired creations that honor the flower's historical significance while offering something distinctly modern.
