The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Regular Eau de Parfum arrived in 2020 from Reserved. The name says it plainly. Kiwi and tangerine open bright and unfussy, with that green-edged tartness the kiwi brings giving way quickly to the rounder, sweeter curve of tangerine. Together they sketch a fruit accord that feels light on its feet, never syrupy or overworked. From there, the composition steps into magnolia and rose, a pairing that leans creamy rather than crisp, with the magnolia adding a soft, lemony lift that keeps the rose from going too powdery. Underneath those florals, patchouli and incense do the anchoring work, adding a low, smoky warmth that grounds the whole structure. It's floral, sure, but not precious.
The heart of the composition features Hoya carnosa, also known as wax plant. It's a botanical presence that brings a dewy, almost waxy quality to the floral phase, layered here with patchouli and incense to give the rose and magnolia a translucent rather than creamy texture. The effect is one of florals filtered through a thin layer of humid air, present but slightly softened, the way petals look through morning fog. Combined with the smokier base notes, the heart phase keeps the fragrance moving rather than letting it settle into something too still.
The evolution
The first hour belongs to the fruit. Kiwi gives it a tart, almost green snap, and tangerine rounds it into something sweeter and more familiar, the two notes trading edges until the opening settles into a bright, slightly juicy accord. That citrus-fruit phase eventually softens, giving way to magnolia and rose layered over a soft, smoky hum of patchouli and incense. The Hoya carnosa adds a curious waxy, humid quality, like air after rain, settling on the skin with a dewy weight that keeps the florals from going dry or sharp. By the third hour, the florals have mellowed into something warmer and more skin-like, as the rose loses some of its top-note brightness and the magnolia settles into its creamier facets. Sandalwood and vanilla take over in the later stages, supported by a clean musk that keeps the whole thing from going too gourmand.
Cultural impact
Regular Eau de Parfum is a floral-fruity composition built around a soft, crowd-friendly structure. The opening combines kiwi and tangerine for a bright, unfussy fruit accord, while the heart pairs magnolia and rose with the dewy character of Hoya carnosa, a botanical more often found in niche or experimental work than in mainstream releases. Patchouli and incense add a smoky undertow that keeps the florals from feeling too pretty, and the base of sandalwood, musk, and vanilla closes the composition with warmth and restraint.
