The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Shuhrah Avenoir joined Rasasi's celebrated Shuhrah collection in 2025, a nocturnal character that earns its name honestly. 'Avenoir' leans into the almost-here, the hour when daylight concedes, a name that signals exactly what kind of mood the juice inside is dressed for. Rasasi built this one as a dark resinous gourmand, swapping floral delicacy for smoky depth and edible warmth. It is unapologetically indulgent in construction, the kind of composition that doesn't flinch from its own sweetness. The Shuhrah collection has always traded in confidence; Avenoir takes that confidence and drags it somewhere more private. There's no daylight pretense here, no bright citrus opening promising you a summer afternoon.
The composition reads like a dare. Bergamot and ginger up top keep the opening sharp and alive, the green notes adding a verdant snap that prevents the citrus from feeling polite. Pink pepper arrives with its telltale fizzy heat, a spark that lifts the ginger and pulls it toward something more dangerous. The heart pulls inward: blackcurrant's tart darkness, cardamom's cool incense, Turkish rose laying down a velvet anchor that softens the spice without dulling it.
The evolution
The first ten minutes feel almost sharp. Bergamot cuts through, ginger bites, green notes add a cool vegetal edge that has nothing gourmand about it yet. Pink pepper fizzes underneath, building a nervous, anticipatory energy. By the thirty-minute mark the blackcurrant arrives and the temperature shifts. The tartness rounds out, Turkish rose softens the edges, and cardamom begins to hum underneath everything like a low cello note. The first hour belongs to this accord: dark fruit, warm spice, something floral but not pretty. Past the two-hour mark the gourmand heart reveals itself fully. Bourbon vanilla thickens the air, caramelized almond introduces a praline richness that wasn't visible before, and Peru balsam starts pulling the whole composition downward into something denser, smokier. The drydown is where Shuhrah Avenoir becomes itself. The projection settles but the scent clings to fabric and skin for hours after, a low murmur of vanilla, almond, and resin that reads warmer and more intimate the next morning than it did the night before.
Cultural impact
Avenoir pushes that identity somewhere darker, leaning fully into its spice-and-resin architecture and letting the gourmand base take center stage after dark. For wearers, it occupies a specific lane: the dinner reservation that runs late, the bar where the lighting dims, the moment after you've committed to staying. The fragrance earns its place in that setting through sheer density; this is a juice built for close quarters, where the sillage can do its work across a table. It's the kind of scent that arrives before you do, then settles into the room alongside you, and remains long after you've left.
