The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Jardin d'Iris arrived in 2016, a composition by Prin Lomros, whose work shaped the early identity of Pryn Parfum. The fragrance builds itself around Japanese iris, treated as the central thread rather than a decorative touch. Salt runs beneath the florals, giving the whole composition a mineral edge that keeps the sweetness in check. Japanese incense moves through the base, warming the cooler aquatic notes without ever smoking up. Hortensia, wisteria, water lily, and a trace of yuzu fill out the picture, each one contributing texture instead of noise. The composition reads like a garden on the threshold of something, petals still closed, the air heavier with anticipation than with bloom.
The Japanese iris here sits next to salt and a literal air accord, and that pairing does most of the heavy lifting. The result reads outdoor and moving, the kind of scent that suggests a place rather than a bottle. Hydrangea and wisteria thicken the floral side without weighing it down, adding a soft fullness that keeps the composition from going skeletal. The Japanese incense behaves differently than expected, accumulating warmth at the edges rather than filling the room with smoke.
The evolution
The opening carries a wet, mineral quality, the kind of sensation that recalls stepping outside after rain near a coastline. Hortensia and the air accord establish this terrain before any floral commits fully. As the composition develops, hydrangea and wisteria emerge, though they remain restrained versions of themselves, pale and suggestive rather than lush. Salt persists underneath, a constant low note that reminds you of proximity to water without ever becoming salty on the nose. The Japanese iris surfaces gradually, carrying a soft, slightly earthy character that anchors the florals to something grounded. The incense builds in the later phase, warm and faintly resinous, drifting in rather than announcing itself. The drydown settles into water lily and a whisper of yuzu, clean and faintly green, the kind of finish that feels cool against the skin.
Cultural impact
Jardin d'Iris reads as outdoor and atmospheric, the kind of fragrance that creates a sense of place on the skin without leaning heavy or loud. It wears especially well in warm weather, where the salt and aquatic accords feel most natural and the florals can breathe against the heat. The composition appeals to wearers who want something present but not declarative, a scent that registers up close without projecting across a room. The treatment of Japanese iris here, paired with salt and incense rather than the more typical powdery or rooty iris constructions, gives it a distinctive position among iris-forward releases.
