The beginning
Weightless arrived in 2017 from the Moscow studio of Olga Gosina, the perfumer who founded OsmoGenes Perfumes a year earlier in 2016. The bilingual title tells you everything about the brand's sensibility: Невесомость in Russian, Weightless in English, one meaning held in two languages. Gosina builds compositions from a deeply personal place, and this one reads as an atmospheric study more than a conventional fragrance launch. The tart snap of tamarind in the opening already signals a perfumer who thinks about texture as much as scent. The ozonic layer that defines the heart dissolves the usual rules of floral construction, letting water lily, lotus, and freesia exist as suggestion rather than bouquet.
What's interesting is how Gosina built that sensation from materials that shouldn't feel weightless at all. Tamarind brings an unexpected tartness to the opening, an acidic thread that keeps the citrus honest and prevents it from drifting into generic cologne territory. The heart stacks three florals, water lily, lotus, freesia, but cushions them under ozonic notes that read as pure atmosphere rather than bloom. The ozonic layer does the floating, the florals provide the visual interest, and the drydown's white cedar and musk anchor the whole thing to something wearable.
The evolution
The opening is the brightest the fragrance will ever be. Bergamot and tangerine crack open with a clean, almost sparkling energy, and the tamarind threads through with a sour edge that keeps it from reading as just another citrus-floral launch. Soon the ozonic notes take over, and the whole composition does something unusual, it lifts. The florals arrive not as a bouquet you'd smell but as humidity in warm air, a suggestion of water lily and lotus without the soapy sweetness those notes usually bring. Freesia flickers in and out, never staying long enough to become recognizable on its own. As the citrus recedes, the fragrance grows quieter: white musk, lily of the valley's green-cool whisper, and white cedar doing the structural work underneath. The drydown stays close to skin, developing slowly over hours rather than shifting through dramatic stages.

Weightless has earned attention in the Russian niche perfume community as a composition that prioritizes atmosphere over ornament. The use of ozonic notes to dissolve traditional floral structure appeals to wearers who find conventional white-floral fragrances too sweet or too literal. Its placement within OsmoGenes' catalog gives it a particular role: the cool, sheer counterpoint to other releases that lean warmer or more opulent.
