The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
In 2015, the house tasked perfumer Joachim Correl with something specific: a fragrance that balanced warmth with precision. Correl approached it by stacking warmth upon warmth: vanilla, tonka, and amber as a base that wouldn't quit, with Bulgarian rose and geranium providing the floral anchor. The name Oopss! carries an air of spontaneity and surprise. The scent matches that energy, inviting the wearer into a world where boldness feels effortless and every note tells a story of confident, unapologetic allure.
What makes the composition work is the maltol. This material delivers that toasty, caramelized undertone that rounds out the sweetness of vanilla and tonka bean into something cohesive rather than sugary. Combined with the powdery iris and the sharp green of geranium, the base avoids the trap of gourmand heaviness. Instead, it becomes a warm cloud, present without announcing itself. The ginger in the heart is doing quiet work too: a clean heat that bridges the citrus opening to the floral middle and keeps the entire structure from feeling static.
The evolution
The opening brings bergamot and orange blossom lifting the composition for the first few minutes, bright and clean. Then the handoff: Bulgarian rose and geranium take over, with ginger providing an unexpected warmth that prevents the florals from going static. The iris arrives mid-development, adding that powdery characteristic that defines the heart. By the third hour, the base notes dominate, vanilla, tonka, and maltol create a warm, slightly sweet drydown that clings to skin and fabric alike. On fabric, the patchouli and cedarwood linger for hours after the florals fade, a quiet reminder of warmth that extends the experience well beyond the initial application.
Cultural impact
Intense Oopss! launched in 2015 as a fragrance that breaks from the expected. The scent represents a departure into warm oriental territory for a brand known for fresh, accessible scents. Its name itself signals playfulness and approachability, challenging the formal conventions of perfumery. The use of maltol as a signature base note gives the fragrance a distinctive caramelized warmth that sets it apart. The fragrance maintains its warm-woody character while inviting a broader audience to discover Brazilian fragrance expertise.
