The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The Heritage Collection speaks to what came before, and what Nabeel wanted to carry forward. Tagarid arrived as a study in contrast: bright citrus and warm powder, the freshness of neroli and orange blossom softened into something richer. The house aimed for a fragrance that honored traditional Arabic perfumery's embrace of white florals and warm resinous depths, while feeling immediate to someone encountering it for the first time. Tagarid is the result, a bridge between what the Gulf has always known and what the rest of the world is starting to appreciate about it.
The structure is unusual in how it refuses to choose between cool and warm. Aldehydes open with a lift, a fizzy brightness that makes the citrus feel effervescent rather than sharp. Beneath that sparkle, plum adds a jammy depth that keeps things grounded. The heart of jasmine and lily of the valley then softens everything, but patchouli and sandalwood pull the composition earthward so the florals never become airy. The base is where the powder lives, vanilla and tonka bean create that soft-focus finish the brand calls out in its own description. Benzoin adds a resinous warmth that lingers without becoming heavy.
The evolution
The opening hits bright and citrus-forward, bergamot, neroli, a lift of aldehydes that catches light. The plum sits beneath, adding a dark sweetness that keeps the citrus from being purely sunny. Within the first hour, the florals take over. Jasmine and lily of the valley emerge as the dominant character, with sandalwood and patchouli becoming more pronounced. The saffron is subtle here, more warmth than spice, threading through the white florals like a whisper. As the fragrance develops, vanilla and tonka bean soften everything, with coconut and benzoin adding creaminess. A citruses note lingers at the edges, keeping the powder from becoming static. The final hours are warm, powdery, intimate. Tagarid doesn't announce itself. It stays close, a quiet presence that only those near you will notice.
Cultural impact
Tagarid sits within a broader moment for Arabian fragrance houses finding international audiences. The house maintains its commitment to authentic materials and strong longevity, qualities that have earned it a devoted following. Tagarid's powdery warmth makes it versatile across seasons, particularly spring and autumn, when the transition from cool morning air to warmer afternoon temperatures lets the fragrance reveal its full range. The composition moves beyond simple categorization, offering depth that rewards repeated wearing.
