The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Gelato Scoop exists because Mystiq Parfums believes dessert is a legitimate sensory archive. The 2024 release came from the house's growing interest in gourmand territory, a category the brand had approached cautiously until finding the right balance of sweetness and structure. Rather than reaching for the obvious comparisons, the formulation team wanted to capture the specific feeling of standing at a gelato counter in good light, considering something indulgent and choosing it without apology. Pistachio was the anchor from the start. Everything else was built around keeping it creamy, warm, and present rather than buried under sweetness. The result is a fragrance that earns its comfort-food energy by never becoming heavy or one-dimensional.
What makes Gelato Scoop work is the tension between nuttiness and brightness. Pistachio reads almost green at the opening, not sharp, but present in a way that stops it from feeling like a footnote. Cardamom provides warmth and a faint spice that prevents the whole composition from flattening out. The caramel in the heart is the emotional centrepiece: sweet, familiar, with just enough depth to avoid sounding like a candle. Peony is the surprising element, floral without being delicate, it bridges the gap between the gourmand heart and the woody base. Tonka and vanilla in the drydown do what they always do: they extend the warmth and make the wearer's skin feel like the final ingredient.
The evolution
The opening is a brief, bright thing. Bergamot pops first, a flash of citrus that clears the air before the pistachio arrives. The cardamom is there from the start, not announcing itself but adding warmth to everything around it. By the time the top notes fade, the composition has already shifted into its heart. The caramel and peony arrive together, the raspberry appearing as a faint tartness that keeps the sweetness honest. This middle phase is where Gelato Scoop earns its name. For the next three to four hours, it reads exactly like the thing it's named for. The drydown is where the sandalwood shows up. Not loud, not pushy, just a smooth, creamy wood that keeps everything grounded. Vanilla and tonka extend the warmth without adding weight. On most skin types, this phase lasts into the evening. It settles close. It stays.
Cultural impact
Gelato Scoop occupies a specific space in the house's catalog alongside Vanilla Cigars and Sugar Vineyard, part of a deliberate group of dessert references that define Mystiq's gourmand identity. The fragrance has generated mixed community sentiment, with strong reactions on both sides, suggesting it appeals clearly to a specific type of wearer rather than trying to convert everyone. Peop-ple who gravitate toward it tend to describe it as the scent of a moment they want to return to, rather than a fragrance with a message.
