The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Miroir des Majestés translates the magic and wealth of the Middle East into scent. Golden ornaments painted on glass announce what is inside: a composition built on opulence, contrast, and unmistakable presence. Nathalie Lorson constructed it around the tension between aromatic spices and warm florals, between brightness and depth. Cardamom and coriander open the conversation with a green, slightly citrusy spice that feels simultaneously inviting and commanding. Jasmine and orange blossom answer with a creamy, indolic sweetness that softens without diluting the spice. Suede adds texture, a note that catches the light like velvet but wears like second skin. Amber with oud closes the door behind it, resinous and deep, the kind of base that feels ancient and modern at once.
The real tension here lives in the structure: cool spices meeting warm florals meeting resinous depth. Cardamom and coriander arrive together, sharp and aromatic, demanding notice. The coriander adds a citrusy, slightly peppery edge while the cardamom brings something greener, more complex, and together they create an opening that feels both fresh and potent. Then jasmine and orange blossom bloom over suede, luminous florals softened by something tactile and warm.
The evolution
The opening is all business. Cardamom and coriander hit the skin with aromatic force, the kind of opening that does not ask for permission. Soon the florals begin to emerge, jasmine taking the lead with its intoxicating, slightly animalic sweetness while orange blossom follows with a softer, more citrusy edge. Together they soften the spices without replacing them, the combination creating something that feels both luminous and grounded. The suede arrives quietly, wrapping the florals in warmth and texture, a note that adds depth without adding weight. By the second hour, the composition has shifted entirely. Amber and oud move in, turning the fragrance warm and resinous, the kind of drydown that stays close to the skin but refuses to disappear. The projection is noticeable from the start, the scent announcing itself with confidence before settling into something intimate and addictive.
Cultural impact
Miroir des Majestés sits in a specific tradition: oriental fragrances built for presence and longevity, designed for someone who wants their scent noticed and remembered. The Mirror Mirror collection comprises six exclusive fragrances, each a statement of intent. The combination of suede and oud is distinctive enough to set it apart from more traditional amber-heavy orientals, offering something that feels both familiar and unexpected. Where many orientals lean heavily into sweetness or smoke, this fragrance threads a different path, using suede to ground the florals and oud to add resinous depth without overwhelming the composition.
