Why it exists.
The beginning
Mine. Perfumery launched Ethereal Extreme as a bolder, more concentrated iteration of their original Ethereal. The house had been building a catalog of conceptual scents since their earliest documented releases, and this one pushes into territory their softer compositions tend to avoid. The brand describes it as an angelic fragrance given a twist of sensuality and desire, aimed at the wearer who wants to be viewed as someone who has arrived. Where the original Ethereal floated in featherweight territory, this version grounds that same atmospheric sweetness with darker, warmer materials. The airy quality persists, but it now sits alongside something richer and more resinous.
What makes Ethereal Extreme interesting is the tension between innocence and indulgence in the structure. Baby's breath and bergamot open with crisp, almost bridal clarity, a deliberate echo of something pure. Then the salted caramel and tonka bean pull the whole thing into richer, stickier territory. Roasted almond adds a toasted, slightly bitter edge that keeps the sweetness from collapsing into one-note sugar. Salt on caramel is a specific choice here. It gives the gourmand accords an unexpected edge, keeping the composition from tipping into pure confection.
The evolution
The opening is deceptive in its brightness. Bergamot and pink pepper cut through with a cool, almost sharp character that has nothing in common with what comes next. Roasted almond lands early too, warm and faintly nutty, like the smell of a bakery before the sugar hits. As the composition settles, the ambergris and benzoin take over, and the fragrance loses its crispness entirely. Baby's breath does quiet work here, keeping a powdery softness underneath all that sweetness so the caramel doesn't go cloying. Eventually the salted caramel and maple take full control. The maple reads more like a dark, almost burnt sugar than pancake breakfast. Tonka bean settles underneath, giving the whole thing a tobacco-adjacent warmth without ever crossing into smoky territory. On skin, the composition stays close after a while, intimate rather than projecting loudly.
