Massimo Dutti turned to Frank Voelkl for Limited Edition 06, a release built on an unusual hinge: tea. Lapsang Souchong, the black tea smoke-cured over pine wood fires. The brand frames this composition as a tribute to sensuality and elegance, though the scent itself reads less about glamour and more about composure. The smoke from the curing process carries a campfire profile, distinct from any brewed beverage impression, and becomes the gravitational center of the whole composition. Lapsang brings actual combustion into the bottle, something rare in a category that usually treats tea as a whisper rather than a structural element.
Lapsang Souchong is a singular material in fragrance. Most tea accords in perfumery aim for comfort, but Lapsang brings actual combustion, a campfire profile from the smoking process, and in Limited Edition 06 that smoke becomes the spine.
