The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
The name carries weight, an arrival, a successor stepping into light, a declaration of arrival and intent. For Cristiano Canali and Kristian Malbrum, Here Comes The Son closes a trilogy eight years in the making, the third act of what they call Volume III: Act of Faith. Where Godspeed anchors the collection in earth and natural grounding force, and Paradiso Super reaches for the imaginary, Here Comes The Son occupies the space between, the human-made, engineered to be instantly recognizable as something great that humans are capable of creating and indulging in.
The choice of ambrette, musk mallow, as a leading note is unconventional. Ambrette seed gives warmth and a subtle creaminess without the animalic edge of true musk; it bridges the gap between the freshness of a classic fougère and the richness of a modern oriental. Paired with bergamot's bright citrus and benzoin's resinous sweetness, the opening achieves something rare: immediate warmth that doesn't spike sharp and fade. The Javanol-sandalwood combination in the heart adds that distinctly modern woody signature, clean but deep, with an iris-powder quality that gives the composition its memorable character.
The evolution
The opening announces itself with soft bergamot and creamy ambrette, no harsh edges, no citric bite. Within minutes, orange blossom absolute rises, bringing a lush floral sweetness that tempers the citrus. The bergamot recedes but doesn't disappear; it becomes part of the background warmth. The heart settles around 30 minutes in: sandalwood and Javanol create a creamy-woody core, while iris butter adds that powdery-violet signature that defines the fragrance's character. The tobacco absolute is present but restrained, more whisper than statement, lending a quiet depth to the base. By hour three, the muscenone and labdanum take over, creating a warm, powdery, slightly resinous drydown that lingers close to the skin for hours after. On fabric, it lasts well into the next day.
Cultural impact
Part of Volume III: Act of Faith, a trilogy developed since 2018 that explores determination, self-belief, and the power of imagination through scent. Here Comes The Son represents the human-made concept within that trilogy: engineered to be instantly recognizable as something great, it occupies a distinctive niche between accessible warmth and bold individuality.
