Why it exists.
The beginning
Core emerged in 2022 as Lucertolablu's ode to the island's restless blue lizard. The house wanted a scent that captured that sudden flash of colour and the rugged ter rain it inhabits. Using an aromatic fougere framework, the perfumer built around Apple and Lavender for immediacy, then threaded Violet through Patchouli for complexity.
The note selection reflects the island's duality: bright, sharp freshness meeting deep, shaded earth. Apple and Elemi reference the glittering sea and citrus groves visible from the cliffs. Violet and Heliotrope evoke the island's quieter corners, shaded spots where flowers bloom away from direct sun. Patchouli grounds these in the island's garrigue and mycological earth notes. Cedar, Vetiver and Vanilla anchor everything in the volcanic soil and stone that define Capri's ter rain.
The evolution
The fragrance moves from bright to grounded over its lifespan. Apple and Elemi create that first shimmer, like the lizard darting into sunlight. Lavender bridges the opening and heart, its green quality linking to Violet's arrival. The heart layer of Violet and Heliotrope blooms against Patchouli's earthiness, capturing the moment the creature pauses on warm stone. The drydown settles into Cedar and Vetiver, evoking ancient cliff rock and Mediterranean maquis, finally releasing Musk and Vanilla like warmth stored in the island's soil.

Apple has long symbolized knowledge and temptation in Western myth, from the biblical Eden to modern advertising, while lavender carries centuries of therapeutic use across Mediterranean cultures, prized for its calming aroma in both religious ceremonies and folk medicine. Elemi, a lesser‑known resin from Southeast Asia, historically featured in traditional incense and maritime trade, adding a subtle woody nuance that bridges ancient rituals with contemporary perfumery. Tog ether, these notes reflect a cross‑cultural dialogue, marrying the familiar comfort of orchard freshness with the exotic depth of historic resin, resonating with consumers who appreciate both heritage and modernity in their fragrance choices.
