Why it exists.
The beginning
Palm Beach belongs to Nacho Figueras's debut fragrance collection, a six-piece set launched in 2019 that draws its inspiration from polo tournament destinations around the world. Each scent takes its name from a place that resonates with the world of international polo, and Palm Beach draws from the resort town that shares its name, evoking the easy elegance of sunlit afternoons and coastal leisure. Carlos Benaïm composed Palm Beach, bringing the structural precision of a seasoned perfumer to a composition that holds its own within a collection spanning wildly different geographies.
What makes Palm Beach work is the restraint at its core. Benaïm's composition is built on a tight pyramid of nine notes, each given room to breathe rather than crowded into a statement of excess. The neroli and orange blossom pairing does the heavy nostalgic lifting, that combination carrying a long tradition in luxury perfumery for evoking warmth and Mediterranean bloom. Sage in the top notes adds an herbal edge, a clean green thread that keeps the citrus from reading as one-dimensional.
The evolution
The first 15 minutes are all about momentum. Bergamot and mandarin land bright and immediate, with sage threading through like a cool current, tempering the citrus without dulling it. There's nothing shy about this opening, it announces itself with the confidence of someone walking into a room already knowing they belong. Around the 30-minute mark, the neroli and orange blossom take over properly, and the fragrance settles into its most distinctive phase. This is the floral heart that gives Palm Beach its character, white and warm at the same time, with a honeyed sweetness that never tips into indolic territory. The jasmine is there but quiet, adding texture without dominating. After about 2 hours, the base arrives: ambroxan lending its clean, slightly mineral warmth, cedar providing a dry, almost pencil-shaving sharpness beneath.
