Why it exists.
The beginning
Special Occasion arrived in 2025 from the studio of House of Turkmen. The composition carries a signature thread that runs through the catalog: gourmand territory, the comfort zone of custard, cream, and butter reimagined through a perfumer's lens. Burak Turkmen built the scent at extrait de parfum strength, a concentration that signals intent, and the formula reads as deliberate from the first spray. The custard note opens with a warm, vanilla-laced sweetness that feels poured rather than splashed, settling quickly into a denser cream accord that rounds the edges and softens any sharpness. Beneath that dairy softness, butter comes through in a slightly browned, almost pastry-crust way, giving the composition a baked depth that keeps it from collapsing into pure sugar.
What makes this composition worth attention is the collision it stages between two traditions that rarely share a bottle. Iris, that powdery, rooty, almost cold floral, anchors the opening alongside frankincense and lavender. Then the heart arrives with butter, cream, and cacao pod. Lactonic notes, the smell of warm dairy and chocolate, meeting an iris backbone that should clash. Instead the orris root acts as a bridge, its powdery earthiness cushioning the sweetness so it reads rich rather than sugary.
