The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
House of Helios launched in 2022 in Spain with a singular concept: mapping the Enneagram personality types to fragrance. Each scent in the Enneakind series corresponds to a type, capturing its core psychological impulse in olfactory form. For Type 4, The Individualist, the house turned to perfumer Julien Plos. The assignment was clear: translate the Type 4 impulse toward authenticity and emotional depth into something wearable. The result is a fragrance that resists the expected floral template, instead introducing an unexpected coolness in its opening that signals this is not a conventional rose scent.
The note selection for 4 THE INDIVIDUALIST reveals a specific philosophy about authenticity. The opening trio of grapefruit, blackcurrant, and mandarin is not chosen at random. These are fruits that carry both brightness and complexity, refusing to be merely cheerful. Eucalyptus adds a dimension that separates this from standard citrus-forward compositions, signaling early that conventional expectations may not apply. The floral heart leans into rose and jasmine, traditional markers of femininity, but pairs them with lily of the valley's green innocence to create something that feels less performed and more discovered.
The evolution
The evolution of 4 THE INDIVIDUALIST mirrors the Type 4 journey from performance to authenticity. The opening, driven by grapefruit, blackcurrant, mandarin, and eucalyptus, announces presence without apology. There is tartness, there is fruit, and there is the surprising mentholated lift of eucalyptus that catches attention and holds it. As the top notes dissipate, the heart unfolds. Rose, jasmine, and lily of the valley form a traditional floral trio, but here they feel more introspective than decorative. This is not a fragrance trying to impress. The drydown arrives quietly. White musk settles close to the skin. Clearwood adds gentle warmth. Oakmoss provides just enough earth to keep things honest. The Type 4 does not need the room to know they are different; they simply are.
Cultural impact
The Individualist quickly became a talking point among Enneagram enthusiasts, praised for translating the dramatic, creative spirit of Type 4 into a wearable form. Niche‑fragrance blogs highlighted its bold citrus‑floral contrast, noting it stands out in the 2023 Enneakind lineup. Wearers describe it as the scent of the artist who walks into a gathering, turning heads without shouting.
