The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Nathalie Lorson composed The Peacemaker for House of Helios in 2023, the ninth release in the Enneakind collection, a series that maps each Enneagram personality type onto a distinct fragrance. The Peacemaker, Type 9, is the archetype of harmony, the one who smooths edges, holds groups together, and sees every side of every argument. Lorson was given a brief built around that personality: a composition that would feel welcoming without demanding attention, comforting without becoming forgettable. The result leans into contradiction. Fruit and florals, the obvious peacemakers of perfumery, anchored by patchouli, amber and cedar that give the composition weight. It does not shout. It does not need to. That restraint is the point.
Most fruity-floral compositions trip into one of two traps: they either dissolve into generic sweetness or they swing so aggressively green that the fruit becomes a garnish. Blackcurrant brings tartness and depth. Pear softens without becoming syrup. The white florals in the heart stay restrained, never tipping into indolic territory. Eucalyptus adds a clean, cooling lift that keeps the composition from feeling too soft. The base is where the structure lives: patchouli and cedar doing the structural work, with tonka bean and vanilla offering warmth that reads as skin-like rather than gourmand.
The evolution
On skin, The Peacemaker opens with the sharp snap of blackcurrant and the cool sweetness of pear, a fruit accord that feels bright and immediate. Then the eucalyptus arrives. It cuts through the fruit like a window thrown open in a warm room, and the white florals begin to surface, violet giving the heart a soft, powdery cast that feels more garden than bouquet. As the fragrance develops, the composition settles. The fruit fades, replaced by a warm, resinous base where patchouli and amber take the lead. Cedar adds a dry, clean woodiness that keeps the vanilla from turning syrupy. Tonka bean rounds the edges without smoothing them out entirely, leaving just enough texture to keep the drydown interesting. The final stage of the wear is where the fragrance becomes most itself: a close, warm blend of woods, amber and soft vanilla that sits on the skin like a second layer.
Cultural impact
The Peacemaker carries a clear conceptual weight within the Enneakind framework. Type 9, the peacemaker, is the personality most concerned with maintaining equilibrium, avoiding conflict, and creating spaces where others feel at ease. Translating that archetype into scent means building a composition that does not push the wearer or anyone nearby away, but also does not disappear into the background. It is a balancing act between presence and retreat, and the fragrance handles it by leaning on materials that feel familiar rather than challenging.
