The name points to sandalwood at the center, surrounded by other materials that carry tribal weight: cedar, cypriol, leather. The composition leans into density and warmth, building a structure where each note contributes weight and presence rather than fleeting transparency. Santal wood anchors the heart with its characteristic creaminess, while cedar adds a drier, pencil-shaving brightness that sharpens the edges. Cypriol, also known as nagarmotha, brings an earthy, rooty undertone that grounds the blend, and leather lends an animalic warmth that ties the whole composition together.
The layering of iris and violet over a sandalwood-cedar structure gives Santal Tribal its distinctive character. The leather and amber in the base soften the woody architecture, adding a supple richness that prevents the composition from feeling austere.
