The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Royal Amber joined Hamidi's Majestic Collection in 2023, sitting in a lineup of fragrances that draw on Oriental perfumery traditions. The name tells you the brief: amber, done with the authority the word implies. Not the sticky-sweet variety, not the dusty vintage kind, but a version that feels current and composed. The fragrance itself delivers on that promise through a structure built around contrasts. Cardamom and lavender lift the top into something bright and aromatic, almost cool, while amber, patchouli, and woody notes anchor the base in dense, resinous warmth.
What makes Royal Amber structurally interesting is the way its top and base pull in opposite directions. Cardamom and lavender are bright, almost cool, almost fougère-adjacent. Amber, patchouli, and woody notes are dense, resinous, grounded. This one holds the freshness for longer than you'd expect, and the apple-orris heart is what bridges the two halves. Orris root adds a powdery, suede-like quality that keeps the iris-family note from going soapy, and apple introduces a clean, slightly tart crispness that prevents the composition from collapsing into pure warmth.
The evolution
The first fifteen minutes are all cardamom, sharp and green, with lavender threading through it like dry wind through herbs. Nothing sweet yet. The opening reads almost cologne-like, clean and aromatic, which is unexpected for a fragrance with 'amber' in its name. Give it thirty minutes and the shift starts. The apple appears first, subtle, like biting into something cool and slightly tart, and then orris root settles underneath it, powdery and dry, giving the heart a suede texture rather than a fruity one. An hour in, the base takes over. Amber arrives without sweetness, more like warm resin than caramel. Patchouli grounds it, dry and earthy rather than dirty. The woody notes underneath give it a quiet structure, the kind that holds the whole composition upright without announcing itself.
Cultural impact
Royal Amber sits in Hamidi's Majestic Collection, a lineup that brings together Oriental perfumery traditions with contemporary composition. The lavender-cardamom top gives it a brightness that makes the fragrance approachable, and the amber-patchouli base keeps it anchored in recognizable depth. The contrast between those two halves, cool and aromatic up top, warm and resinous underneath, gives the scent a range that works across occasions. It's the kind of composition that can sit just as comfortably in cooler weather as it can in transitional seasons, when the air calls for something with presence but not weight.
