The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Perfumer Delphine Lebeau-Krowiakj created Desirable in 2019 with a clear intent: comfort shouldn't feel ordinary. The name says it all. Rather than chasing complexity for its own sake, this composition builds warmth through layers that feel familiar on first encounter, ginger, pear, mandarin opening, then florals that soften rather than shout. The structure is democratic by design: accessible enough to wear daily, interesting enough to remember.
What makes Desirable distinctive is its refusal to choose between sweet and grounded. The coffee-praline base gives it an edible quality that attracts without overwhelming, while heliotrope and violet add a powdery counterpoint that keeps the sweetness from cloying. It's the kind of composition that works because each layer knows when to step back. The florals don't compete with the coffee. The vanilla doesn't drown the ginger. Everything holds its place.
The evolution
The opening announces itself boldly, ginger and mandarin cut through with clean heat, the pear adding a fleeting sweetness that softens the citrus. Within the first hour, that brightness begins to settle. The heart takes over: a powdery wave of heliotrope, rose, and violet that feels intimate rather than projecting. By hour two or three, the coffee and praline emerge from beneath the florals, warm and close, with sandalwood and musk adding depth without heaviness. The drydown stays near the skin, sweet, soft, present but not loud.
Cultural impact
Desirable, launched by Russian beauty brand Faberlic in 2019, represents a calculated move into the mid-tier fragrance market. While Faberlic built its reputation primarily through skincare and color cosmetics, Desirable marked a notable entry into warm, sweet oriental territory. The fragrance arrived during a period when accessible oriental scents with coffee and praline notes were gaining mainstream traction globally. Its powdery floral heart, blending heliotrope with rose and violet, gives it a distinctly feminine character that bridges vintage charm and contemporary taste. The ginger and mandarin opening provides an immediately approachable brightness that softens the sweeter base notes.
