The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
When F1 Parfums set out to translate the sleek white of a Formula 1 driver's suit into scent, they tasked Aliénor Massenet with capturing that high-speed precision. Launched in 2021, Neeeum White was engineered as a fougère-floral that mirrors the clean lines and aerodynamic edge of a race car. Massenet, trained in classic French formulation, approached the brief by combining botanicals like juniper berries and clary sage with modern synthetic bases to achieve a result that is both sharp and wearable.
Massenet's philosophy here seems rooted in restraint. Juniper and black pepper in the opening suggest a fragrance that leads with freshness and energy. The leather in the drydown is a deliberate contrast, grounding the initial brightness with something tactile and grounded. Rather than building toward a single dramatic peak, Neeeum White EDT is structured as a steady arc. Milk and tonka bean in the base serve as stabilizers, keeping the leather from becoming harsh and allowing the vetiver to do its work quietly.
The evolution
The fragrance begins with juniper berries delivering an immediate coolness, reinforced by black pepper that adds a faint burn without tipping into aggression. Clary sage anchors the herbal dimension, preventing the opening from feeling too synthetic. As the top notes fade, lavender takes command of the heart, with iris threading through to add a quiet elegance and narcissus providing a green counterpoint. The progression is designed to feel logical rather than dramatic, each phase emerging from the one before it. By the time the base arrives, leather and vetiver provide the structural weight, while milk and tonka bean soften the finish into something that lingers without overwhelming.
Cultural impact
Since its 2021 release, Neeeum White has become a quiet favorite among enthusiasts of engineered fougère scents. Its race‑inspired crispness and measured leather dry‑down set it apart from more traditional aromatic colognes, earning mentions in niche forums for its precise performance and modern aesthetic. The fragrance often appears in discussions about scent engineering, positioning it as a benchmark for technically‑driven fragrance design.
