The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Turn 1 EDT arrived in 2021 as the third chapter of F1 Parfums' engineered collection. Perfumer Fabrice Pellegrin translated the roar of a Formula 1 start-line into scent, pulling from the brand's laboratory mindset. Angelica and mandarin orange launched the spray like a green flag, while the oakmoss-violet leaf heart recalled the cool efficiency of a well-run pit stop. The choice of earthy materials over tropical florals signals that this was never meant to smell like a typical sport fragrance.
The note selection reveals a philosophy grounded in contrast and continuity. Mandarin orange offers accessible opening brightness, but angelica prevents the scent from ever feeling sweet or generic. Oakmoss and violet leaf provide the heart's atmospheric character, chosen specifically for their ability to evoke cool, technical environments rather than romantic ones. Woody notes and patchouli in the drydown ground the composition in earth rather than air, ensuring the scent settles rather than floats. Together, these materials form a logical progression from the speed of opening to the grounded calm of the drydown.
The evolution
From the first spray, mandarin orange provides immediate brightness before angelica's green herbaceous quality dampens the sweetness. Spicy notes in the opening create an atmospheric warmth that dissipates before the heart fully emerges. Oakmoss and violet leaf take over around the 15-minute mark, shifting the scent from bright citrus into cool, mossy territory. By the third hour, woody notes assert themselves and patchouli joins to create a dry, earthy drydown that lingers close to the skin. The evolution follows a clear trajectory from energy through atmosphere to ground, each phase distinct yet connected by shared green and earthiness.
Cultural impact
Since its 2021 debut, Turn 1 has become a favorite among motorsport enthusiasts who appreciate a scent that captures the adrenaline of the pit lane. Its engineered precision and strong sillage have earned it mentions in niche forums as the go‑to ‘track‑inspired’ fragrance, often compared to other high‑performance niche releases.
