The beginning
Edeniste emerged in 2022 with a direct proposition: perfumes engineered to influence emotional state through targeted molecule placement. The brand works with fragrance psychologists and neuroscientists to select ingredients not just for their olfactory appeal but for their documented impact on stress response and mood. Aurélien Guichard, the perfumer behind Wellbeing, was given a specific brief centered on calm and mental clarity. Rather than building a fragrance around an aesthetic concept, Edeniste started with a desired psychological outcome and worked backwards to the formula.
The note selection reflects Edeniste's philosophy that certain raw materials carry predictable associations with emotional wellbeing. Lemon is widely documented for its mood-brightening properties; orris root carries cultural connotations of luxury and calm; cedarwood is frequently cited in aromatherapy for its grounding qualities. By combining these ingredients in a specific progression, Wellbeing attempts to guide the wearer's emotional state through the structure of the fragrance itself. The pairing of jasmine with ginger in the heart was not accidental: jasmine provides an uplifting floralcy while ginger adds warmth without heaviness, preventing the heart from becoming languid.
The evolution
Wellbeing begins with an immediate burst of lemon and green notes, a combination designed to provoke alertness without agitation. Pink pepper was introduced specifically to add a tonal brightness that lifts the citrus rather than competing with it. As time passes, the orris root and jasmine take visual stage, their powdery and floral qualities counterbalancing the initial energy. Ginger was chosen deliberately for its warming effect, a subtle bridge between the fresh opening and the grounded base. The drydown features cedarwood as the structural anchor, with musk and vanilla providing comfort rather than spectacle, completing the emotional arc from energized to settled.
