Heritage
A house, in its own words
Audrey Semeraro grew up surrounded by scientific inquiry; her father worked as a nuclear scientist, an environment that shaped her curiosity about the brain's response to scent. After completing a degree in chemistry, she spent four years merging her scientific training with a lifelong passion for perfume. In 2020 she formalised this hybrid vision by establishing Edeniste, a brand dedicated to exploring the link between fragrance and emotion. A pivotal moment arrived when Edeniste secured a partnership with Takasago, a Japanese flavor and fragrance company known for its research into olfactory perception. This collaboration gave the brand access to a dedicated neuroscience lab, allowing it to test scent compounds for their impact on mood markers such as heart‑rate variability and self‑reported wellbeing. The first public collection debuted in 2022, featuring ten Eau de Parfum releases that were simultaneously launched in boutique settings and selected department stores. By late 2022 the line had reached Harrods, where the brand's “Active+ LifeBOOST®” fragrance was displayed alongside other wellness‑focused products. Throughout 2023 Edeniste expanded its research network, inviting academic partners from France and Japan to co‑author studies on scent‑induced affect. The brand continues to publish its findings in open‑access journals, reinforcing a commitment to transparency and evidence‑based perfumery. While still young, Edeniste has carved a niche that sits at the intersection of art, science and personal care, inviting consumers to experience fragrance as a tool for emotional balance. Edeniste’s creative vision rests on the premise that scent can be engineered to support mental health. The brand rejects the idea that perfume is merely decorative; instead it treats each composition as a functional molecule designed to trigger specific neural pathways. Core values include scientific rigor, ethical sourcing and a respect for the wearer’s inner experience. Formulation begins with a brief that defines a target emotional state—calm, focus, optimism—and then draws on both classic aromatic families and novel aroma‑chemical blends. Each ingredient is evaluated for its psycho‑active profile, with laboratory tests measuring changes in cortisol levels, heart‑rate variability and subjective mood scales. The resulting data inform dosage decisions, ensuring that the final spray delivers a measurable effect without overwhelming the senses. Transparency is a guiding principle: Edeniste publishes summary results of its studies on its website and in partner journals, inviting peer review. The brand also emphasizes sustainability, sourcing natural extracts from certified farms and preferring biodegradable packaging. By positioning fragrance as an active wellness partner, Edeniste seeks to empower individuals to shape their emotional landscape through scent.
