Heritage
A house, in its own words
To My Ships arrived quietly but with serious intent. The house was founded by Daniel Bense, who previously held the role of head of commercial at Aesop, bringing to his own project a refined understanding of how fragrance, retail, and lifestyle converge. Rather than debuting with a conventional body care range, Bense set out to challenge assumptions about a category most consumers treat as purely functional. The brand's earliest products were alcohol-free, aluminium-free deodorants and antiperspirants, made in France, built around natural and naturally-derived ingredients paired with fine fragrance. This combination positioned To My Ships somewhere between skincare, perfumery, and apothecary, a hybrid space rarely occupied by heritage houses or indie newcomers alike. By October 2024, the brand extended its vision beyond functional products with its first fragrance release, Of The Gods Polygonum Eau de Parfum, signalling that personal fragrance, not body care, would be part of its long-term identity. Press coverage followed, framing the house as a new luxury name bringing botanical intelligence to deodorant and beyond. Each release, whether deodorant or eau de parfum, reinforced the same proposition: that everyday products deserve the craft and care usually reserved for the high shelf of perfumery. Though young, To My Ships has moved quickly from concept to category-defining presence in the clean personal care conversation. To My Ships treats scent as a daily essential, not an occasional indulgence. Bense built the house on a simple observation: the products closest to the body often receive the least thought, even though they shape how a person smells from morning to night. The brand's philosophy centres on reconciling two ideas usually held apart. The first is performance. Deodorants and antiperspirants must work reliably, through long days, warm weather, and stress. The second is pleasure. The same product should carry a fragrance thoughtful enough to feel like a signature, not a masking agent. By pulling aluminium and alcohol from formulations and turning instead to natural and naturally-derived ingredients, To My Ships aligns its functional promise with a more modern standard for clean personal care. Equally important is the idea that restraint is a form of luxury. The brand does not crowd its products with claims or competing notes. Each launch is built around a clear olfactory point of view, the kind of clarity usually associated with niche perfumery. From body care to eau de parfum, To My Ships proposes that the most quietly radical act in modern fragrance is making the everyday feel considered.
