The beginning
Quir is part of Eau de Boujee's debut perfume quartet, a line where founders Nick and Pia finally translated their Boujee Bougies world into something wearable. The brand positions itself inside what it calls postmodern perfumery, a framework that treats conventional fragrance rules as raw material rather than gospel. Quir is the chapter where that philosophy gets loud. Where Gilded might shimmer and Verdant might breathe, Quir does neither. It leans into leather, into animalic territory, into the kind of scent memory that belongs to a back room, a bar counter, a glance that lasts one second too long. Long, a fragrance consultant turned nose, composed it with the instinct of someone who has smelled ten thousand briefs and knows exactly which ones to ignore.
The name reads like a wink, and the composition plays the same game. Amber Xtreme sits at the top of the note pyramid, a bright synthetic material that radiates warmth with unusual intensity. Bergamot and pink pepper join it in the opening, adding their own lift before the composition turns. Then the heart arrives: leather and tobacco absolutes alongside rose, which in less deliberate hands might soften the whole thing into something polite. Here, the rose holds its own. It functions as structure within the leather framework, and the tobacco absolute grounds everything in smoke.
The evolution
The opening belongs to Amber Xtreme, and it opens with presence. Bergamot slices through alongside it, and pink pepper adds a brief flicker at the edges before the composition turns toward its darker materials. That radiant warmth burns quickly, setting up the architecture for what follows. Then the leather takes the wheel, and Quir stops being polite. The castoreum makes itself known early, that animalic edge that defines the fragrance's character and separates it from cleaner leather compositions. Rose absolute threads through the middle, visible as a structural element rather than a decorative one. Tobacco absolute thickens everything, giving the smoke weight and presence in the air around the wearer. As the hours pass, the leather and tobacco settle into something quieter. Labdanum and patchouli ground the whole composition into warmer territory.
