The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
I Love Singing arrived in 2011 from Dzintars, a Latvian house. Where the brand's earlier releases might have leaned toward cooler regional references, I Love Singing looks the other direction entirely. This is a tropical floral, built around frangipani, gardenia, and tiare, three flowers of islands far north of Latvia. The name itself sounds like an unguarded exclamation, something sung out rather than composed carefully on paper. Part of Dzintars' I Love collection alongside I Love Dancing and I Love Tango, it carries the energy of a lighthearted moment captured in glass, fragrance as carefree expression rather than serious statement. The bottle itself reflects that same spirit, simple and bright, the kind of packaging you'd find cheerful rather than precious.
Frangipani, tiare, and gardenia in one composition is a deliberate doubling of the tropical white floral. Each brings a different shade of cream and warmth, layering creamy textures on top of one another until the composition feels almost edible in its richness. The green notes threading through aren't an afterthought; they prevent the florals from collapsing into a single creamy mass and add a freshness that lifts the heavier blooms. Rose in the heart adds a touch of traditional floral grounding, a familiar thread running through an otherwise exotic arrangement.
The evolution
The opening is the greenest moment, almost herbal-cool, like stepping through a wet garden gate with morning still clinging to the leaves. Soon the frangipani and gardenia swell in, creamy and full, and the scent settles into a tropical white floral space that is warm and slightly fruity, unmistakably present on the skin. The rose peeks through in the middle phase, adding a soft, almost vintage quality to the cream, a brief whisper of something more classical before the tropical notes reclaim the foreground. As the hours pass, the lactonic sweetness starts settling toward skin, the base fruity notes pulling the composition into a quieter, warmer register. The drydown is less gardenia, more skin-warmed cream with a faint green tint that lingers through the later hours of wear.
Cultural impact
Part of Dzintars' I Love collection, a lighthearted line that includes I Love Dancing and I Love Tango, I Love Singing sits alongside its siblings as part of a thematic range built around joyful moments and unguarded expression. The collection as a whole gives Dzintars a more playful side, a counterpoint to whatever more serious or traditional releases the house is known for. Within that lineup, I Love Singing distinguishes itself through its tropical floral focus, a departure from anything piney or green that might be expected from a Baltic label.
