The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Marbella takes its name from the glamorous coastal city that crowns Spain's southern tip, a place where white-washed villas overlook turquoise water and evenings glow with citrus-scented breezes. Launched in 2020, Carner Barcelona set out to bottle that Mediterranean allure, pairing the iconic bright-light aesthetic of the coast with notes that feel simultaneously fresh and warm. The perfumer chose blackcurrant and rose for the opening to capture that initial rush of coastal air, while black pepper added a hint of the spice routes that have long crossed the Mediterranean.
Marbella was built around the idea of balance between vibrancy and softness. Blackcurrant and black pepper create initial energy, while peony and green tea bring a refined clarity to the heart. Peach and amber in the base allow the fragrance to settle into something Intimate, making it feel personal rather than performative. Each layer was chosen to reflect a different moment of a Mediterranean evening, from the bright first hours to the quiet fade.
The evolution
The fragrance begins with blackcurrant and rose, a duo that evokes both fruit and flower in full sun. Black pepper arrives to lend a quiet heat, suggesting the warmth of cobblestones after a long day. In the heart, peony and green tea unfold tog ether, the lush petals of peony softened by the clean bitterness of tea. Jasmine quietly deepens this middle phase, enriching the floral character without tipping into sweetness. The drydown brings peach and musk, creating a skin-close warmth, while amber adds a final glow that feels like the last light of a coastal sunset.
Cultural impact
Since its 2020 debut, Marbella has become a staple for those chasing a sun‑kissed, Mediterranean vibe. Wearers often cite it as the go‑to summer signature in the Carner Barcelona Dream Collection, and it frequently appears in discussions alongside the brand’s La Playa and Tardes for its balanced floral‑fruit freshness. Its blend of rose and peach has earned it a reputation as a modern, unisex crowd‑pleaser.
