The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Inflorescence, launched in 2013, captures the awakening of nature and the beginning of Spring. Ben Gorham worked with perfumer Jérôme Epinette to translate that moment into a fragrance that smells like the dramatic peak of spring, when a garden is at its most vivid and full expression. The scent embodies that perfect moment when flowers reach their most vibrant blooming, a sensory portrait of spring's peak rather than its tentative beginnings. Together, they crafted a fragrance that distills the emotional intensity of peak bloom into wearable form.
What makes this composition interesting is its structure, not just its ingredients. Byredo built a white floral study around contrast, lily of the valley's cool, citrusy-green character threading through jasmine's warmth, magnolia's creaminess kept in check by that green current. It's not heavy. It's not saturated. It's the kind of white floral that remembers it grew in a garden, not a perfume counter.
The evolution
The opening is a statement. Freesia and rose arrive without hesitation, their full, unabridged expression. This garden refuses to be a background player. Over the next few hours, the heart takes over: lily of the valley introduces a cooler, greener current, and magnolia deepens the structure with something softer, almost buttery. Then jasmine arrives, quiet, warm, and surprisingly persistent. By the time most people check their wrist, it's there: skin-close, intimate, holding steady for hours on most skin types. The arc moves from bold to calm, the story unfolding across time.
Cultural impact
Inflorescence launched in 2013 as a white floral fragrance. It captures the awakening of nature and the beginning of spring, translating that energy into a scent profile that feels fresh and garden-like without being overwhelming. The composition brings clarity and structure, offering a different take on white florals. This approach has found appreciation among wearers seeking elegant, understated scent presence in professional settings.
