Spettacolore

Iris root is one of perfumery's most expensive materials, it's buttery, violet-scented, and slightly earthy, with a powdery quality that reads as sophisticated rather than sweet. Myrrh is its opposite: dark, resinous, slightly bitter, with a warmth that develops over hours on skin. Amber, in this composition, isn't a single ingredient but a warm, balsamic accord that binds the two, creating a finish that feels golden rather than sharp. The combination is unusual in its restraint. Three notes, three very different characters, and a result that feels like one coherent atmosphere. The evolution

Spettacolore opens with iris the way a cloud catches light, delicate, cool, slightly sweet. The powdery violet note arrives first, floating above the skin rather than pressing into it. It's not loud. It's not trying. It's already interesting. The heart is where myrrh makes its case. Slowly, over the first hour, a dark resinous warmth builds beneath the iris. It's not a dramatic shift, more like a room that slowly fills with the smell of warm resin as a candle burns down. The iris doesn't disappear; it deepens, becomes less delicate and more physical. By hour three, amber takes over. The drydown is warm, golden, and surprisingly persistent, with the balsamic richness settling close to the skin. On some skin, a trace of the iris continues to pulse underneath the amber like a ghost.
