The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Alberto Morillas built Bvlgari Man Wood Neroli around a single conviction: fresh does not have to mean frivolous. Released in 2019, it takes the neroli and gives it somewhere to live. The citrus blooms with clean certainty while a woody foundation anchors everything below. A fragrance that knows exactly what it is.
The neroli sits within a structure designed for longevity. Cypress and white cedarwood provide the woody spine that prevents the floral from floating away. Ambroxan, a marine ambergris derivative, replaces traditional sweet notes to keep the base modern and dry.
The evolution
The opening unfolds with neroli and bergamot carrying the initial brightness, a briny note threading through to keep the citrus grounded. Orange blossom and cypress emerge in the heart phase, their green, slightly resinous quality deepening the composition. White cedarwood adds a quiet woodiness while ambroxan and amber arrive in the drydown, softening the mineral edge into something warm and durable.
Cultural impact
Bvlgari Man Wood Neroli sits comfortably in the modern classic category, not a statement piece, not a background player. It has been compared favorably to Tom Ford Neroli Portofino and Banana Republic Neroli Woods. The scent occupies a space all its own, distinct without being difficult, confident without being loud.
