The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Bond No. 9 built its identity translating New York's distinct neighborhoods into scent. The Dubai Collection marked something new, a bridge between two cities that share more than ambition. Both are places where old and new collide, where East meets West in steel and glass. Dubai Indigo became the New York house's first fragrance to step beyond the boroughs, named for a city that operates at the same altitude of ambition. The brief was clear: capture Dubai's light and heat through a New York sensibility.
The composition mirrors the city itself, an opening of bright, almost aggressive sweetness (bergamot, lychee, peach) that reads like Dubai at noon, all glass and heat. Then the white florals arrive to complicate things. Jasmine, peony, orange blossom, they add creaminess, depth, a certain softness that prevents the top from reading as purely tropical. The oud in the base is the real statement. It's not the loud, smoky oud of traditional Arabian fragrances. Here it's wrapped in amber and white musk, almost tender. The oakmoss grounds it. This is oud for someone who wants the depth without the drama.
The evolution
The opening is fruity and bright, bergamot cuts through immediately while lychee and peach unfold into something almost confectionery. Sweet, but never heavy. There's a translucency to it, like light filtering through glass. The heart introduces the florals. Jasmine and peony layer in, with orange blossom threading through. The effect is creamy, not sharp. The white florals deepen the composition without slowing it down. By the drydown, the oud arrives. It's the real anchor here. Not loud, but unmistakable. Everything before it was prologue. The oakmoss adds an earthy, almost mineral quality beneath the oud, while amber and white musk round out the warmth. Soft. Skin-close. This is where the fragrance lives longest, persisting through the 8-10 hour range on most skin types.
Cultural impact
Since its 2015 launch, the Dubai Collection has been recognized for its quality execution, with Dubai Indigo standing out as one of the stronger entries in the lineup. The fragrance occupies a specific niche, oud for those who want depth without drama, sweetness that doesn't apologize for itself.
