The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Shero, combining "she" and "hero." 猎光 means "hunting light." The name asks a question: what does female power smell like in 2024? Not the florals of the past. Not the ouds of tradition. Something that lives between citrus clarity and lactonic warmth. Nathalie Lorson, working with Firmenich, built this around milk and Helvetolide, materials that smell like skin, like warmth, like something that belongs to you. Vanilla and patchouli support the base. Bergamot and jasmine frame the top. Light chasing shadow. Then shadow settling back in.
The lactonic note is the quiet revolution here. Milk in perfumery isn't literal dairy, it's a reconstructed accord that smells creamy, slightly sweet, often warm. Helvetolide elevates that effect: a synthetic musk that reads as skin-like, soft, intimate. Together with vanilla, they create a base that doesn't project loudly but rewards anyone who gets close. The jasmine doesn't fight this. It joins it, white floral sweetness meeting creamy warmth. Licorice adds a slight anise depth, preventing the milk from reading as dessert. Guaiac wood brings a subtle smokiness. This is a composition designed for intimacy, not announcement.
The evolution
Bergamot and magnolan open with a clean, citrus-bright quality that carries a pleasing astringency. Jasmine and labdanum join this initial impression, the labdanum introducing a resinous depth that creates an intriguing counterpoint to the opening freshness. As the fragrance develops, the milk accord emerges and the bergamot recedes, feeling more like a distant echo than the original declaration. Guaiac wood and licorice arrive next, the wood adding body while the licorice contributes a slight anise edge that keeps the composition engaging. The base settles into vanilla and Helvetolide, with patchouli providing an earthy quality without any darkness. The final drydown reads as warm skin, close to the body, intimate. On fabric, the scent lasts longer, the vanilla and Helvetolide bonding with fibers and releasing quietly for hours.
Cultural impact
Shero 猎光 arrived in 2024 as Boitown冰希黎's entry in the lactonic-oriental category. The name itself merges Shero, the she-hero concept, with 猎光 meaning 'hunting light,' suggesting empowerment and aspiration. Designed by Nathalie Lorson, a perfumer known for her technical precision, the fragrance incorporates a milk accord and Helvetolide base that reflect a contemporary taste for skin-like, intimate fragrances that prioritize wearability. The composition appeals to those seeking gender-fluid scent profiles that feel both sophisticated and personal.
