The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
By 2006, Beverly Hills 90210 had been turning a television-adjacent name into something you could spray on your wrists for years, building a catalog that reached twenty entries. The brand leaned on a recognizable vocabulary of youthful California brightness, fruit up top, soft florals at the heart, warm woods underneath, and that thread runs through every flask the line has ever put out. Magic joined the catalog in 2006, the same year Touch Of Gold and Pure 2 Sexy appeared, three new entries arriving in close succession. The core idea stayed constant even as the specific notes shifted from one release to the next, and Magic fits squarely inside that established playbook rather than trying to reinvent it.
What sets Magic apart is how lean it runs. The original scent drew on green apple for a crisp, slightly tart opening layered against a very floral, sweet character. Magic keeps the apple but rearranges the surrounding notes, swapping in mandarin orange for a juicier, rounder fruit character, and building a fuller white floral accord around it. Heliotrope and cyclamen add a powdery sweetness that softens the whole composition, giving it a slightly almond-edged warmth in the heart.
The evolution
The opening is exactly what you'd expect from the listed notes: bright, fruity, slightly tart, the kind of first impression that makes you check your wrist. Mandarin and apple lead the charge, and the citrus does most of the early lifting before settling into the backdrop. Then the florals arrive, and the fragrance shifts register entirely. Lilac and orchid bring a creamy, almost dewy quality, heliotrope adds its marzipan softness, jasmine layers in its warm, slightly indolic hum, and rose cuts through with a clean petal sharpness. It's a busy heart, but it coheres better than it has any right to, each note finding its own pocket rather than muddying the others. Once the florals start to lift, the base settles in: warm sandalwood and cedar with amber underneath and musk close to skin, the kind of quiet, woody drydown that flatters without demanding attention.
Cultural impact
Beverly Hills 90210 Magic arrived in 2006, the final entry in a fragrance catalog that had been building since 1992. By that point, the brand had settled into a reliable rhythm, releasing new variations that shared the same underlying aesthetic while offering slightly different arrangements of fruit, florals, and woods. Magic landed alongside Touch Of Gold and Pure 2 Sexy, three releases appearing in the same year, each tweaking the established template in its own direction.
