The beginning
Storm Chaser arrived in 2025 as part of Aura Budapest's Momentum collection, a release that put the house on a more attention-grabbing track. The official description positions it as an opening statement: rhubarb, pineapple, and bergamot lead, supported by the warmth of aldehydes and saffron. The rhubarb arrives tart and almost vegetal, snapping against the juicier sweetness of pineapple in a way that feels less like a fruit salad and more like an argument between two very different ingredients. Bergamot lifts the whole top into something brighter, almost electric, while the aldehydes give the opening a sparkling, carbonated fizz. Beneath that fizz, saffron unspools slowly, dusty and leathery, pulling the composition toward something warmer before the wearer even registers the shift.
The composition is unusual because it refuses to settle into one genre. Pineapple and rhubarb suggest a bright, almost gourmand opening, but the heart introduces iris and black pepper, which gives the sweetness a different kind of energy. Pistachio softens the transition without making it gentle, adding a creamy, slightly nutty weight that grounds the sharper notes above it.
The evolution
The first thirty minutes are the loudest. Aldehydes create that almost metallic sparkle, like light catching off cold metal, while pineapple and rhubarb provide a tart, sharp fruitiness that reads as confident rather than sweet. Saffron warms the edges. The opening is immediate, almost aggressive in its brightness, and the pineapple especially announces itself without apology. The aldehydes fade into the heart around the forty-minute mark, and that's when the composition shifts. Iris arrives with a powdery, cool quality, but black pepper cuts through it, adding a dry heat that keeps the softness from becoming delicate. Pistachio adds a subtle creaminess. This phase lasts roughly two to three hours and reads more complex than the opening suggested, almost like a different fragrance decided to show up. The base settles in around the four-hour mark. Cinnamon and amber provide warmth, while oakmoss, oud, and vetiver create a dry, woody backbone. The pineapple is gone entirely.
