The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Flirt Infini arrived in 2022 as part of Antinomie's founding collection, one of six fragrances released simultaneously to establish the house's paradoxical voice. The brief was simple: capture the energy of a flirtation that never resolves, that hovers in the space between intention and action. Not a declaration. Not a retreat. The name says it all: an infinite flirt. The perfumer worked with that tension directly, building a fragrance that stays in motion rather than arriving at a destination.
What makes Flirt Infini work is its refusal to commit to one register. The powdery florals, iris and violet, suggest something classic, almost powdered. The leather and gurjum balsam push back, introducing warmth and resin that tip the composition toward intimacy rather than nostalgia. Carrot seed is the unexpected element in the top: earthy, slightly bitter, grounded. It keeps the opening from floating away into pure abstraction. This isn't an iris-fragrance for people who want orris-root sweetness. It's for those who want the idea of iris, the texture of it, without the expected richness.
The evolution
The opening arrives bright, bergamot and neroli provide immediate citrus-freshness. The carrot seed appears quickly, introducing an unexpected earthy-green note that surprises even experienced fragrance people. Some wearers are hooked immediately. Others need a few minutes to recalibrate. By the time the floral heart emerges, violet and cedar arriving together, the carrot has softened into the background. This is where the powdery florality settles, where iris earns its place. The cedar adds structure beneath. One to two hours in, the warmth begins to build. Amber and leather arrive at the base, followed by sandalwood and gurjum balsam. The drydown is the real payoff, warm, close, intimate. Six to eight hours on most skin. Not projection-heavy. The sillage stays moderate throughout, which suits the name perfectly: an infinite flirt that draws you in rather than announcing itself.
Cultural impact
Flirt Infini operates in a specific register: powdery florals that flirt with warmth, neither fully committing to cool freshness nor to heavy sensuality. The moderate sillage suits the name, it pulls you in rather than announcing itself. It's the kind of fragrance that works across seasons and occasions, drawing people close rather than filling a room.
