The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Anna Zworykina founded her Moscow atelier in 2004 with a philosophy rooted in treating perfumery as wearable art. N3 emerged from her personal laboratory as part of the house's ongoing Number Series, where each year receives a distinct scent narrative representing that period in her creative evolution. Launched in 2012, this particular chapter reflects Zworykina's habit of transforming intimate experiments into limited-edition works available to collectors willing to seek them out, inviting wearers into a private creative dialogue.
N3 showcases Zworykina's approach to pairing materials that serve multiple functions. Ambrette functions as both opening note and persistent thread, its musky green character bridging the floral heart to the warm drydown. The Benzoin and Vanilla pairing creates a sweet resinous character without explicit gourmandism, working instead as an abstract warmth. Sandalwood and Labdanum provide structure without heaviness, letting the florals remain dominant. Tonka Bean bridges the creamy and sweet dimensions while Iris adds an olfactory sophistication that elevates the Tuberose and Ylang-Ylang into something more complex than simple tropical florals.
The evolution
The fragrance moves from its quiet Ambrette introduction through an expansive floral heart that dominates the wearing experience. Bergamot appears briefly, a momentary citrus spark before Tulipa and Jasmine take hold alongside the heavier Ylang-Ylang and Tuberose. As the hours pass, Iris joins the chorus, bringing powdery refinement to contrast the heavier florals. Benzoin and Labdanum emerge as warm undercurrents, their resinous amber richness tempering the floral abundance. Sandalwood grounds the composition while Vanilla, Tonka Bean, and Ambrette complete the drydown in a creamy, intimate warmth that feels inseparable from the wearer's skin.
Cultural impact
Since its 2012 debut, № 3 has sparked conversation among niche enthusiasts for its unapologetically rich tube rose and resinous base, often described as a ‘white‑flower composition’ that leans into warm amber. Wearers note its ability to stand out in Intimate settings, making it a favorite for evening gatherings where its moderate sillage whispers rather than shouts.
