Anna Zworykina
Anna Zworykina earned a doctorate in biochemistry at Moscow State University before swapping lab coats for scent bottles. In the early 2000s she spent seven years mastering organic synthesis, chromatography and the chemistry of aroma molecules. A chance encounter with a veteran perfumer sparked a decision: she would translate molecular precision into artistic expression. In 2004 she launched her first private blends, founding Anna Zworykina Perfumes in her Moscow apartment. The brand quickly attracted collectors who prized her commitment to natural raw materials and transparent ingredient lists. Over the past two decades she has released more than fifty fragrances, each bearing a handwritten label and a story rooted in Russian seasons, literature and personal memory. Her work earned features in niche-fragrance journals and invitations to speak at industry symposia, cementing her reputation as one of the few scientifically trained noses to build an independent house.

How Anna composes
Zworykina’s signature technique blends rigorous analytical methods with hand-crafted blending. She favors natural absolutes such as Russian cedar, wild rose, and Siberian pine, pairing them with a handful of synthetics that enhance stability without compromising authenticity. Her compositions often open with a crisp, transparent top—citrus or green notes—then unfold into a heart built on floral or herbal layers, finally settling on a dry-down that lingers with woody or resinous warmth. She frequently employs maceration, allowing the mixture to rest for months before bottling, a practice that deepens integration and softens sharp edges. The resulting scents read like a scientific report that also feels like a quiet conversation with the forest.
Philosophy
What drives Anna
Zworykina treats each formula as a laboratory experiment and a poem. She believes scent should reveal truth rather than mask it, so she starts every brief by isolating a single emotion or memory and then searches for a molecule that can articulate it. Her scientific background drives a disciplined approach: she records every trial, measures volatility, and respects the sustainability of each extract. At the same time she embraces intuition, allowing a fleeting accord to guide the next step. The result is a body of work that feels both rigorously crafted and deeply personal, inviting the wearer to experience a moment that feels both familiar and unexpected.
