English cucumber runs beneath it, a cool, watery green that keeps the sweetness from cloying. Then datura appears, a night-flowering bloom Lamoureaux weaves through the fruit rather than setting beside it. The balance is the point: watermelon and cucumber offer refreshment, datura brings something stranger, something that pulls the composition off the predictable summer track.
