The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Vega is a fruity-floral composition from Ajmal. It leans into light without losing the grounded warmth that defines the house's floral compositions. Vega isn't trying to be the loudest bottle on the counter. It's trying to be the most dependable one in the rotation. The opening is fruit-forward and approachable, with grapefruit and blackcurrant giving it a juicy snap that doesn't read sharp or synthetic. The heart settles into a powdery, almost cosmetic violet paired with a whisper of tuberose that keeps the florals from collapsing into anything too soft. The base anchors it with a familiar musk-vanilla-patchouli combo, the kind of finish that doesn't demand attention but quietly holds the whole thing together.
At the heart of Vega is the violet-tuberose pairing, and that's what gives it some real character. Violet pulls the composition toward a powdery, almost cosmetic softness, the kind of note that makes a fragrance feel like it's already been blended into your skin. Tuberose keeps it from going baby-powder generic, adding a creamy white-floral edge that lifts the violet out of pure prettiness. The grapefruit and blackcurrant up top are bright, but they're weighted by red berries underneath, which rounds the fruit into something more grown-up than a typical berry blast.
The evolution
The first ten minutes are all fruit. Bergamot, grapefruit, and blackcurrant hit sharp, with red berries underneath adding a rounded sweetness that keeps it from smelling like a sour candy. Then the violet and rose start to lift the whole thing off the skin. The tuberose is there too, but it doesn't shout. It whispers. The composition reads powdery by the half-hour mark, like the inside of a clean blouse just pulled over the head. There's a talc-like softness to the violet at this stage, but the rose keeps a little bite in the mix so it never crosses into baby-powder territory. Around the two-hour mark the vanilla and patchouli start to take over. The fruit is a memory. The florals have softened to something that reads more like clean skin than like a bouquet.
Cultural impact
Vega is a workhorse composition, the kind of soft, clean floral that still feels substantial on the skin. The violet and tuberose at the heart give it a powdery softness that reads more grown-up than the usual fruity-floral template, and the musk-vanilla-patchouli base keeps it grounded enough to wear daily. It's the sort of scent that slots into a routine without demanding attention, which is exactly what makes it worth coming back to. Vega rewards repeated wear, settling into a clean-skin warmth that feels like it belongs on you rather than sitting on top of you.
