The Story
Why it exists.
The beginning
Mosha'a arrived in 2019 as a rose and vanilla fragrance from Ajmal. The name carries an Arabic sensibility that reflects the house's heritage in perfumery. Ajmal has spent decades perfecting its craft, building a range of compositions that span various fragrance families. Mosha'a brings florals worn close to the skin, sweetness that earns its keep, and a woody base that doesn't announce itself so much as settles in. It's a composition designed for those who appreciate subtle elegance in their fragrance choices.
Mosha'a blends floral and oriental elements with rose remaining present throughout the heart alongside vanilla and amber, creating a persistent warmth. The raspberry adds a tartness that prevents the heart from becoming uniform. It's a composition that reveals itself over time, offering different facets as the minutes pass.
The evolution
Rose and jasmine arrive with clean floral character, with geranium adding a green-floral lift. Jasmine provides something for the rose to play off, while geranium keeps the composition from becoming overly sweet. The heart follows, where vanilla and amber arrive together, warm and familiar, while the raspberry adds a tartness that prevents the composition from becoming uniform. The drydown settles into cedar, sandalwood, and musk, a woody base that stays close to the skin. Patchouli adds earthiness that grounds everything. The fragrance shifts through these phases, starting bright and becoming quieter as time passes.
Cultural impact
Mosha'a arrived in 2019 as Ajmal expanded beyond oud-focused offerings. The launch reflects the house's approach to introducing Middle Eastern fragrance traditions to new audiences. Rather than leading with the region's signature oud, Ajmal chose an oriental-floral composition that translated familiar warmth and richness into a more accessible register. This positioning made Mosha'a an entry point for fragrance enthusiasts curious about Middle Eastern perfumery.
