Why it exists.
The beginning
Leather, Sandalwood, Amber arrived in 2025 from the Zielinski & Rozen atelier, composed by Erez Rozen. The name does exactly what it says, and that's the point. Three materials. No fireworks. No clever subversion of what you'd expect. Erez treats the composition like a conversation between old friends who don't need to fill the silence, each note arriving already knowing the others. There's a refusal here to dress up something simple in complexity for its own sake, and that restraint becomes the statement. You get leather the way leather should smell on a quiet afternoon, sandalwood the way it settles into skin when nothing is trying to compete with it, and amber doing its oldest, most dependable work underneath.
What makes this trio worth noticing is the restraint. Leather in modern perfumery tends to arrive loud, either smoked into tar or polished into something that belongs in a showroom. Here it's suede-soft, almost powdery, the kind of leather that reads as a texture rather than a statement. Sandalwood gets the centre and earns it, creamy rather than sharp, the kind of warmth that holds a composition together without dominating the room. It brings a smoothness that lets every other note settle into place rather than fight for attention.
The evolution
The first fifteen minutes read almost entirely leather, but a leather that feels pre-broken-in. No sharp edges, no chemical bite. Think of the inside of a leather bag that's been carried for years, warmed by hands and sunlight, the suede gone slightly fuzzy with age. There's a faint sweetness underneath almost immediately, amber warming up before the sandalwood fully takes over, which means the opening feels rounder than a pure leather usually does. That early sweetness is subtle enough to miss if you're not paying attention, but it's doing real work, smoothing the transition into whatever comes next. The composition never sits still. As the leather begins to loosen its grip, the creaminess starts pushing forward and the whole thing shifts from a suede reading into something warmer and more golden.
